Institutional Review Committee (IRC)

The Institutional Review Committee of IOM independently reviews and approves research for Maharajgunj Medical Campus  and Constitutional colleges, ensuring ethical practices and monitors multinational trials.

Introduction

The Institutional Review Committee (IRC) of Institute of Medicine (IOM) is an independent and autonomous body of IOM which is responsible for the review of the research proposals and provide approval for the clinical studies and researches planned to be conducted in Maharajgunj Medical Campus and the constitutional colleges of IOM. The IRC of IOM has also been monitoring the research activities of multinational/multicentric clinical trials being conducted in MMC and constitutional colleges/hospitals.
The ethical review process is based on the ethical principles of health research – respect for the autonomy of research participants, beneficence and non-maleficence, justice and respect for environment. It will provide independent, competent and timely review. The IRC will be free of bias and influence (political, institutional, professional, financial, etc.).
